Yuki Asano

Born Fukuoka, 1991. Lives Tokyo Setagaya, atelier Naka-Meguro. Mother a seamstress with a small shop in Yakuin, father a sales director at a regional bookstore chain. She grew up between needle and book.

Fashion school in Osaka, 2010 to 2014, with focus on womenswear and show production. Internships in Tokyo at three independent labels, first runs as casting and producer assistant on a Spring 2016 show.

Freelance casting and show production from 2016. Founded her own studio in a second-floor warehouse in Naka-Meguro in 2018: two assistants, one long table, no television, three plants. First international brief in 2019, a small Milan label cast remote from Tokyo, delivered in seven days.

The pivot came in 2023. A Milan house booked her for a full casting and show; six weeks before the show she flew to Shanghai and Chengdu, found a 22-year-old in a Chengdu café over a Fuji X100V snapshot, two hours of conversation, a contract by evening. That model became the season's face. The first New York calls came three weeks after the show. She stayed in Asia.

A steady run since: Asia-internal labels, international briefs from Milan and Paris. Senior cast scout and show director for reverce studio since 2026, rotating through twelve cities: Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Bangkok, Melbourne, Sydney, plus pop-ups to Milan and Paris.

She works briefs the way a tailor reads a sleeve. Mornings are research, ninety minutes, every day, before any call gets answered. Cameras are a Fuji X-Pro3 with 23mm and 56mm, an X100V for travel, an iPhone for everything else. There is an old Pentax K1000 in the atelier that belonged to her mother. It has never been loaded.
